Sr. Accountant
We are looking for an experienced Jr Controller to join our team in Streetsboro, Ohio. In this role, you will oversee critical accounting functions, ensuring financial accuracy and providing valuable insights to support operational leaders. The ideal candidate will bring extensive expertise in construction accounting and job costing, along with a proven ability to guide project managers and operations teams toward achieving financial goals.
Responsibilities:
• Manage the monthly, quarterly, and year-end financial close processes, ensuring accuracy and compliance with internal controls.
• Oversee general ledger activities, including accruals, prepaids, revenue recognition, and cost allocations.
• Prepare and review financial statements and management reports to provide actionable insights.
• Monitor job cost reporting, including cost-to-complete analysis, project margins, and overall job performance.
• Support revenue recognition processes using percentage-of-completion or cost-to-cost accounting methods.
• Collaborate with project managers and operations leadership to translate financial data into practical guidance for managing profitability.
• Lead job review meetings, offering insights on cost trends, margin risks, and financial outcomes.
• Supervise and mentor accounting staff, including Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, and General Ledger personnel.
• Ensure efficient processing of invoices, collections, and account reconciliations while maintaining robust internal controls.
• Work with leadership to improve data quality and integration across estimating, project management, and accounting systems.
Qualifications:
• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance.• At least 5–8 years of progressive accounting experience, preferably in the construction or infrastructure industries.
• Strong expertise in job cost accounting and construction financial reporting.
• Proven experience in supervising and mentoring accounting staff.
• Advanced proficiency in Excel and accounting software such as Acumatica, Foundations, or Sage Intact.
• Familiarity with retainage accounting, progress billing, and subcontractor compliance.
• Preferred experience with government-funded construction projects.
• Knowledge of construction-related software integrations, such as Foundation, Viewpoint, or HeavyJob/HeavyBid systems.
Compensation
