Position Summary
The Accountant is responsible for overseeing day-to-day accounting operations, financial reporting, grant accounting, budgeting, audit support, and fiscal compliance across multiple funding sources. This role manages financial documentation, grant billing, reconciliations, budget tracking, accounts payable, and reporting tied to public and private funding. The Accountant partners closely with leadership to ensure financial accuracy, regulatory adherence, and effective fiscal management organization-wide.
WKey Responsibilities
Financial Management & Accounting
- Oversee daily accounting operations and maintain accurate financial records
- Perform month-end and year-end close processes, including reconciliations
- Prepare financial statements, reports, and supporting schedules
- Monitor accounts receivable, expenditures, and revenue tracking
- Process and reconcile vendor invoices and payments
- Maintain organized financial documentation for audit readiness
- Support payroll-related reporting and allocation tracking
- Ensure compliance with internal financial policies and applicable regulations
Grant Accounting & Budget Management
- Develop and manage grant budgets, including modifications and supporting schedules
- Assist with budget preparation for grant proposals and pre-award submissions
- Prepare and submit recurring grant billings and invoices
- Ensure timely submission of financial reports through required funding portals
- Monitor grant expenditures to ensure alignment with funding requirements
- Prepare budget-to-actual and grant performance reports for leadership
- Support contract compliance and funding requirement monitoring
eAuditing & Compliance
- Coordinate and support internal and external audits
- Prepare audit schedules, financial reports, and supporting documentation
- Conduct internal financial reviews to identify discrepancies or compliance risks
- Ensure adherence to regulatory requirements and grant guidelines
- Respond to audit inquiries and assist with corrective action plans
Operational & Administrative Support
- Partner with leadership and program teams on financial planning and reporting
- Assist with forecasting, budgeting, and operational financial analysis
- Maintain allocation schedules tied to funding and staffing requirements
- Support grant submissions, proposals, and funding applications
- Participate in meetings and provide financial updates as needed
- Perform additional duties to support organizational operations
Qualifications:
aEducation and Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field required
- 3 to 5 years of accounting or financial management experience required
- Experience in nonprofit and/or grant-funded environments preferred
- Familiarity with government-funded programs and contracts is a plus
Qualifications and Skills
- Strong knowledge of grant accounting, budgeting, reporting, and audit processes
- Proficiency in accounting systems and Microsoft Office Suite (including Excel)
- Experience with financial software such as QuickBooks or similar platforms
- Strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills
- Ability to manage multiple deadlines and maintain confidentiality
Compensation
