Accounting Manager/Supervisor
Responsibilities:
• Lead day-to-day accounting activities for affordable housing development projects and nonprofit corporate operations, ensuring records remain accurate and current.
• Supervise accounting team members, offering direction, coaching, and review of work to support quality performance and growth.
• Manage project-based financial tracking, including job costs, budgets, and the use of multiple funding sources across active developments.
• Oversee construction-related accounting processes such as vendor payments, customer receipts, bank draw activity, and preparation of draw submissions.
• Direct the monthly, quarterly, and annual close cycles, including reconciliations, journal posting, and preparation of timely financial reports.
• Maintain the general ledger structure and financial reporting framework, including chart of accounts oversight and production of financial statements.
• Analyze financial results through budget comparisons and variance reviews for both development and corporate entities, identifying trends and issues requiring attention.
• Monitor compliance with internal policies as well as lender, grant, and funding requirements, including recordkeeping for restricted funds, loans, and awards.
• Support annual audits, tax-related reporting, Form 1099 preparation, and other compliance reviews while helping strengthen accounting procedures and internal controls.
• Provide backup coverage for other accounting leadership responsibilities and assist with cash management, payroll support, treasury tasks, system administration, and special projects as needed.
Qualifications:
• At least five years of progressively responsible accounting experience, including leadership or supervisory responsibilities.• Strong knowledge of general ledger accounting, month-end close, account reconciliation, journal entries, and financial statement preparation.
• Background in construction or real estate accounting, with the ability to interpret project costs, budgets, and financial variances.
• Familiarity with nonprofit accounting environments and organizations supported by multiple funding sources is preferred.
• Working knowledge of grants, loans, and government funding compliance requirements is highly desirable.
• Proficiency with accounting software and standard business applications; experience with Yardi is preferred.
• Effective verbal and written communication skills, along with the ability to build productive relationships with internal teams and external partners.
• Valid California driver’s license, proof of insurance, and dependable transportation, along with a demonstrated commitment to serving low-income communities and affordable housing initiatives.
Compensation
