Controller
We are looking for an experienced Controller on a contract basis. This role will lead core accounting activities, strengthen financial visibility for leadership, and help ensure the organization operates with accuracy, compliance, and sound financial controls. The ideal candidate brings deep controllership expertise, strong judgment, and the ability to support both day-to-day finance operations and broader business planning.
Responsibilities:
• Direct daily financial operations across payables, receivables, payroll, cash activity, and banking coordination while maintaining reliable accounting processes.
• Prepare monthly and year-end financial reports, forecasts, budget updates, and leadership-facing analyses that support informed business decisions.
• Review reconciliations, journal entries, deposits, and recorded transactions to maintain complete and accurate financial records.
• Evaluate financial results, investigate trends and variances, and present recommendations to improve margins and operating efficiency.
• Lead payroll administration, employee benefit coordination, bonus processing, and retirement plan reporting
• Support employee onboarding and offboarding by managing updates across payroll, benefits, and internal administrative systems.
• Oversee the billing cycle by monitoring time entry completion, invoice accuracy, work-in-progress balances, and collection effectiveness.
• Manage regulatory and business compliance activities, including licensing, tax-related filings, insurance renewals, and information reporting
• Contribute to the refinement of internal controls, financial workflows, and operational procedures, including participation in benchmarking and industry survey activities.
Qualifications:
• 10+ years of experience in controllership, accounting leadership, or finance management roles.
• Strong background in public accounting or audit, with the ability to apply technical accounting knowledge in a business environment.
• CPA designation preferred or strong equivalent expertise in senior-level accounting oversight.
• Demonstrated experience with payroll processing, benefits administration, and retirement plan compliance activities.
• Hands-on knowledge of billing operations, work-in-progress management, cash forecasting, and financial reporting.
• Proven ability to partner with leadership, external tax professionals, and legal advisors on financial and compliance matters.
