Compensation: $55 to $80 Hourly

Our established client in the Nashville area is seeking an experienced HR Director-level consultant to provide leadership coverage during a planned leave of absence. This role will step in to oversee the HR function, support key initiatives, and ensure continuity across people operations during a critical period.

Timeframe is approximately mid-July (flexible) through December 2026.


Overview of the Role

  • Provide day-to-day leadership and oversight for a small HR team (approximately 5 team members)
  • Serve as a steady, visible leader during a period of transition, supporting both HR staff and executive leadership
  • Balance hands-on involvement with strategic oversight across core HR functions
  • Ensure continuity across people operations while prioritizing key seasonal initiatives

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and support the HR team, including HRBPs and functional specialists, ensuring alignment and coverage during team absences
  • Partner closely with leadership (CEO / Legal) and provide clear, professional communication up and down the organization
  • Oversee and support Open Enrollment (mid-October), ensuring smooth execution and adequate coverage for a lean benefits team
  • Help manage and coordinate employee communications related to an upcoming office relocation (mid-November)
  • Provide guidance on employee relations matters, including investigations and coordination with outside counsel as needed
  • Support HRBPs with day-to-day advisory needs across the organization
  • Maintain focus on compliance, policy interpretation, and risk mitigation
  • Oversee payroll at a high level (team is stable; direct processing not expected but familiarity is helpful)
  • Identify and address any gaps in processes, communication, or team capacity during the engagement

Environment & Structure

  • Approximately 450 employees across multiple locations (TN, CA, WI, and remote workforce)
  • ADP serves as the primary HRIS
  • Payroll function is in place and reports into this role
  • Collaborative leadership team with a need for a confident, polished HR leader who can operate independently

Qualifications:

  • Proven experience at the HR Director level
  • Strong leadership presence with the ability to manage teams and influence stakeholders at all levels
  • Experience navigating employee relations issues, compliance, and organizational communication
  • Comfortable stepping into a transitional environment and adding value quickly
  • Prior exposure to benefits oversight and Open Enrollment cycles
  • Familiarity with ADP or similar HRIS platforms
  • Payroll oversight experience is a plus (team is well established)
  • Professional, adaptable, and capable of working both strategically and tactically

Additional Details

  • Hybrid schedule with a preference for onsite presence mid-week (Tue–Thur)

Compensation

$55.00-$80.00 Hourly
