The University of Pittsburgh Student Health Services provides high quality primary health care, prevention, health education and pharmacy services to enhance student living and learning. Primary care services include management of both acute and chronic conditions as well as travel health and provision of gender affirming care. The Gynecological services include screening for STIs, provision of age specific screening as well as full contraceptive management. Psychiatric services include management of mood disorders as well as ADHD. Student Health Services is accredited by the Accreditation Association for Ambulatory Health Care (AAAHC), these services uphold rigorous standards of quality and safety, promoting a healthy environment conducive to academic success.


Job Summary

Provides individual psychiatric assessments and evaluations of students/patients and diagnoses and prescribes appropriate treatments, psychotropic medications, and medication management. Prepares comprehensive records of evaluations and treatments and documents in an electronic database. Orders referral consultations and provides consultations with applicable University medical and therapeutic staff. Serves as consultant and mental health subject expert; publishes mental health findings and maintains educational standards of mental health educational programming for the University.


Essential Functions

Provides individual psychiatric assessments and evaluations of students/patients, including evaluations, diagnosis, psychiatric treatments, prescribing psychotropic medications, and medication management.

Prepares comprehensive records, including patient evaluations and treatments. Documents and maintains patient care into electronic database in a timely, accurate manner.

Orders and/or refers medical consultations when appropriate.

Provides consultations with applicable University medical staff, clinicians, and therapists.

Acts as consultant and mental health subject matter expert to any agency or department within the University.

Researches mental health problems, publishes findings, and maintains educational standards of ongoing mental health educational programs for the University.

Attends University and staff-related meetings as directed.
