Department Overview

The Knight Cardiovascular Institute (KCVI) is recognized as a top integrated center for cardiovascular clinical care, translational research and professional training in all aspects of heart and vascular disease. Guided by a multi-disciplinary approach, researchers and clinicians drive a vibrant translational research program, which focuses on delivering the latest knowledge and cutting-edge care to patients. Specifically, research at KCVI seeks to improve patient outcomes by achieving earlier diagnosis of disease, more accurate monitoring of its progression, and tailoring therapy to the molecular basis of disease.

 

The appointee shall provide services as assigned by the supervisor in furtherance of the university’s missions and goals of teaching, research, patient care, outreach and public service.

 

This position reports to (supervisor): Joaquin Cigarroa, MD Division Chief, Cardiology and Johannes Steiner MD, Section Head Advanced Heart Failure

Function/Duties of Position

Clinical: This position serves as an Advanced Heart Failure Cardiologist in the Heart Failure section. Duties include outpatient clinic, as well as inpatient heart failure and transplant service rotations. Other areas of clinical duties may be available depending on need and interest of applicant. The position would be structured as a 70% clinical commitment at Legacy Health and 30% at OHSU. This role is intended to establish and grow a comprehensive heart failure clinic and inpatient HF service at Legacy while integrating closely with OHSU’s advanced therapies program, including LVAD and cardiac transplantation.

 

Education: OHSU is a teaching institution and as a faculty member, you are expected to provide mentorship and direction to students, residents, fellows and staff. The Graduate Program Director will provide any official assignments.

 

Research: There may be options for you to explore research opportunities in your area of focus. Administrative support is available for grant submission, financial management and clinical trials support. Please share your research interests during the interview process.

 

Administration: Administrative duties may be assigned to you in support of Institute or section initiatives, faculty development and/or other activities as determined necessary.


Required Qualifications
  • Must be licensed MD/DO
  • Active DEA Certification
  • Board Certified or Board Eligible in Advanced Heart Failure

Preferred Qualifications
  • Prior experience practicing in an academic health facility is preferred
