Tax Staff - Corporate
Responsibilities:
• Maintain payroll tax records by updating and reconciling master reporting data for entities and tax identification changes.
• Prepare and submit recurring local tax filings and support timely monthly and quarterly reporting obligations.
• Oversee payroll tax reporting tools and related compliance platforms to help ensure accurate filings and recordkeeping.
• Track, reconcile, and report outstanding or stale-dated payroll checks, including associated liability follow-up.
• Monitor payroll and financial systems regularly to identify discrepancies, compliance concerns, or reporting issues requiring action.
• Research payroll tax laws, labor regulations, and reporting rules, then communicate relevant updates and recommendations to payroll leadership.
• Review tax notices, unemployment rates, quarterly returns, and amendment activity to support accuracy and reduce risk.
• Perform audits and control checks between payroll and general ledger records to strengthen financial accuracy and regulatory compliance.
• Assist with resolving employee payroll tax questions and escalate complex matters for further review when needed.
• Contribute to process improvements, training participation, and ongoing compliance initiatives that enhance payroll department performance.
Qualifications:
• Minimum of 5 years of experience in payroll tax, corporate tax support, or a closely related accounting function.• Bachelor’s degree preferred; an equivalent combination of education and practical experience will also be considered.
• Working knowledge of payroll tax reporting, tax deposits, tax returns, and applicable federal, state, and local regulations.
• Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving abilities with careful attention to detail.
• Ability to manage multiple assignments simultaneously and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office, especially Excel, along with experience using payroll and timekeeping systems.
• Effective written and verbal communication skills with a detail-oriented, service-oriented approach.
• Familiarity with platforms such as ADP Workforce Now, JD Edwards, or similar payroll and financial systems is preferred.
Compensation
