Attorney/Lawyer
Responsibilities:
• Manage assigned litigation matters from initial review through final resolution, ensuring each file moves forward efficiently and strategically.
• Represent insured clients in court proceedings, including presenting arguments, examining witnesses, and submitting evidence in support of the defense.
• Evaluate legal and factual issues, conduct thorough research, and develop defense approaches tailored to the circumstances of each case.
• Prepare and file litigation documents such as pleadings, discovery responses, motions, and supporting briefs with accuracy and timeliness.
• Handle trial preparation, court appearances, depositions, hearings, and appeals as needed for assigned matters.
• Advise claims team members and clients on case developments, risk considerations, and legal issues while maintaining clear and timely communication.
• Coordinate effectively with courts, opposing counsel, witnesses, and clients in accordance with ethical obligations and office practices.
• Travel as required for depositions, hearings, court appearances, and client or claims-related meetings.
• Contribute to internal education efforts by helping create training resources for claims teams and staying current on legal developments through continuing education.
Qualifications:
• Juris Doctor from an accredited law school.• Active bar membership in good standing in the applicable jurisdiction.
• At least 7 years of legal experience, including substantial litigation work within the relevant jurisdiction.
• Demonstrated ability to work independently and apply strong judgment in legal analysis, case strategy, and litigation management.
• Solid legal research and writing capabilities, with experience preparing motions, briefs, and discovery materials.
• Prior courtroom or trial experience is preferred.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Outlook, and a modern web browser such as Edge or Chrome.
• Experience using legal case management systems and familiarity with state laws, local court rules, and procedural requirements.
Compensation
