Our growing construction law firm in Towson, Maryland is seeking a Senior Associate Attorney to join our dynamic practice. We represent owners, developers, general contractors, subcontractors, suppliers, and design professionals in a wide range of construction-related matters. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced attorney who thrives in a fast-paced environment and is looking to take on sophisticated work with significant client contact and responsibility.
Position Overview
The Senior Associate Attorney will play a key role in handling complex construction law matters, including contract drafting and negotiation, dispute resolution, litigation, risk management, and day-to-day legal counseling. The ideal candidate will bring strong analytical skills, sound judgment, and a proven ability to manage matters independently while collaborating closely with partners and clients.
Key Responsibilities
- Handle a broad range of construction law matters from inception through resolution
- Draft, review, and negotiate construction contracts and related agreements
- Advise clients on project risk, claims avoidance, and compliance issues
- Manage litigation, arbitration, mediation, and other dispute resolution proceedings
- Conduct legal research, draft pleadings, motions, briefs, and other legal documents
- Represent clients in court, arbitration hearings, mediations, and depositions
- Provide practical, business-oriented counsel to clients in the construction industry
- Support client development efforts and help maintain strong client relationships
- Mentor junior attorneys and collaborate with legal support staff as needed
Qualifications:
Qualifications
- J.D. from an accredited law school
- Active admission to the Maryland Bar, or ability to waive in promptly
- 5+ years of experience in construction law, commercial litigation, or a related practice area
- Strong experience with construction contracts, claims, and dispute resolution
- Excellent writing, research, negotiation, and advocacy skills
- Ability to manage multiple matters independently and efficiently
- Strong interpersonal skills and a client-focused approach
- Admission in additional jurisdictions, such as Washington, D.C. or Virginia, is a plus
Preferred Experience
- Experience representing contractors, subcontractors, owners, or design professionals
- Familiarity with public and private construction projects
- Experience with mechanic’s liens, bid protests, delay claims, defect claims, and payment disputes
- Background in arbitration forums and complex commercial litigation
Compensation
$150,000.00-$200,000.00 YearlyAbout Us
