Sr. Accountant
Responsibilities:
• Lead the maintenance of the general ledger and ensure financial records are complete, accurate, and current.
• Direct daily accounting activities across key functions, including payables, receivables, and payroll-related reconciliation work.
• Prepare monthly financial reports and supporting schedules to help leadership evaluate organizational performance.
• Review payroll information for accuracy after entry and resolve discrepancies before final processing.
• Develop and assess budgets, monitor variances, and contribute to financial forecasting and planning efforts.
• Perform cash flow evaluations to support operating decisions and promote effective use of funds.
• Administer grant-related accounting activities, including tracking, reporting, and compliance oversight.
• Help ensure accounting practices align with organizational policies and applicable financial requirements.
• Handle journal entries, account reconciliations, bank reconciliations, and other month-end close responsibilities as needed.
• Take ownership of special projects and ad hoc financial assignments in support of the broader finance team.
Qualifications:
• Prior experience in a senior-level accounting role with responsibility for month-end close and general ledger oversight.• Strong working knowledge of journal entries, account reconciliations, bank reconciliations, and financial statement preparation.
• Background in budgeting, forecasting, and cash flow analysis within a finance environment that requires strong attention to detail.
• Experience supporting grant accounting, ideally in a non-profit or similarly regulated setting.
• Proficiency with QuickBooks Online, Bill.com, and Excel.
• Excellent communication skills with the ability to collaborate effectively in a remote work environment.
• Strong attention to detail, sound organizational skills, and a proactive approach to managing processes.
• Ability to work independently, think strategically, and take full ownership of assigned accounting functions.
