Tax Manager - Public
Responsibilities:
• Oversee the preparation and final review of tax filings across federal, state, and local jurisdictions, ensuring complete and accurate submissions.
• Design practical tax strategies that support compliance goals while improving overall tax efficiency for clients and the organization.
• Monitor legislative and regulatory updates, evaluate their implications, and develop clear guidance on complex tax issues through research and written analysis.
• Lead responses to tax examinations and inquiries by coordinating with auditors, agencies, and internal stakeholders to keep matters moving efficiently.
• Provide day-to-day direction, coaching, and development support to entry-level tax team members and operational staff.
• Maintain organized tax records and produce reporting materials that inform leadership on key tax positions, risks, and deadlines.
• Manage work involving individual, corporate, partnership, fiduciary, exempt, and sales tax matters across a varied client base.
Qualifications:
• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related discipline; CPA or comparable certification is preferred.• At least 5 years of relevant experience in tax management or public accounting.
• Demonstrated experience handling individual, corporate, partnership, fiduciary, exempt, and sales tax returns.
• Strong working knowledge of federal, state, and local tax rules and filing requirements.
• Proficiency with Lacerte, QuickBooks Desktop, QuickBooks Online, Slack, Canopy Tax, Zoom, Webex, Adobe, and Microsoft Office applications.
• Strong analytical judgment and problem-solving ability with a high level of accuracy and attention to detail.
• Effective written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to collaborate across teams and support clients effectively.
Compensation
