CLASSIFICATION: Technical Support Supervisor I

GRADE: Exempt; Regular Full-time

LOCATION: Eglin AFB, FL – On Site

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: This exempt position will report to the Engineering Section Manager. This position supervises E-OMS drafting employees. Will perform oversight of day to day activities/personnel involved with drafting support. Must be familiar with architectural, mechanical, electrical, structural, civil, and piping design as well as conventional drafting practices. Must have a good understanding of scaling and mathematical computations. Must have knowledge of Computer-Aided Design (CAD) principles. AutoCAD or similar CAD program experience required. A basic understanding of machine shops and fabrication techniques is preferred. Must have strong written and verbal communication skills. Must be able to manage entry level to senior level personnel.

GENERAL DUTIES:

  • Job functions include (but not limited to): This position reports the Engineering Section Manager.
  • Formulates and executes daily work schedules and assigns employees and teams as needed to accomplish daily tasks to achieve desired outcomes.
  • Works with internal and Government customers to determine work requirements.
  • Reviews drawing packages and work product quality prior to issue to customers.
  • Develop cost and schedule estimates for proposed work tasks.
  • Works with internal and Government customers to maintain project schedules and provides recommended corrections to schedule(s) as required.
  • Monitors spending to ensure costs are projected to be on budget.
  • Uses discretion and independent judgement to interpret project support requirements.
  • Mentors and trains lower level drafting employees on technical and administrative subjects.
  • This position will develop, review, and maintain drawing records and administrative documentation.
  • This position will implement applicable E-OMS policies appropriate to drafting tasks.
  • Ensures drafting department compliance with administrative training, environmental, safety, and security requirements.
  • This position will recommend improvements in operations, work conditions, maintenance, or documentation methods.
  • Provides formal briefings and status updates to senior management and/or customers as required.
  • Assists the section Manager in evaluating employee performance, tracking overtime, selecting employees for specialized work, and ensuring good maintenance and housekeeping are observed.


Job Requirements:

OTHER DUTIES: Other duties may be assigned, such as safety, security, and custodial. Overtime missions must be supported. May also be required to work at other locations, when requested. Occasional TDY/travel may be required.

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS: Must be a graduate of an accredited technical or service school and have a minimum of 10 years of drafting experience.

OTHER REQUIREMENTS: This position requires a Secret security clearance. Candidates must be eligible to obtain and maintain a Secret security clearance. Supports E-OMS operational objectives. Observes company Quality, Safety, Environmental, Security and Administrative policies; supports Process Improvement.

WORK ENVIRONMENT: Work activities are normally performed in an environmentally controlled area in an office setting on Eglin AFB.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS: This position will be subject to substantial movements (motions) of the wrists, hands, and/or fingers. Must be able to have close visual acuity to perform an activity such as: preparing and analyzing data and figures; viewing a computer terminal. May require sitting for long periods of time. Some lifting of up to 50 pounds, standing, bending, stooping, and climbing may be required. Must have ability to work in confined spaces and outside in the elements.
