Junior Software Engineer (onsite/hybrid)
Job Summary:
The Junior Software Engineer supports the development, testing, deployment, and maintenance of software solutions that advance Peckham Industries' business objectives. Working closely with senior engineers and cross-functional teams, this role contributes to software projects while developing technical expertise in application development, cloud technologies, and business systems. This position offers hands-on experience across the software development lifecycle and provides a strong foundation for career growth within the Technology team.
Essential Functions:

Requirements, Education and Experience:
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Technology, or a related field, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- 0–2 years of software development experience through employment, internships, co-op programs, academic projects, or personal projects.
- Foundational knowledge of object-oriented programming and software development principles.
- Experience with at least one modern programming language such as C#, Java, Python, or JavaScript.
- Familiarity with relational databases and basic database design concepts.
- Exposure to cloud platforms (Azure, AWS, or Google Cloud) is preferred.
- Exposure to source control systems such as Git.
- Understanding of software testing concepts and debugging techniques.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
- Capabilities and understanding of generative AI applications or frameworks for software development and testing
- Experience with IoT, industrial automation, or PLC systems is a plus.

Travel:
This position requires up to 5% travel by car to offices throughout NY and New England based on the needs of the role.
Work Environment/Physical Demands:
This job operates in an office and professional environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers. On occasion the job will require going out in the field and various organizations and schools/institutions. This is mostly sedentary outside of travel in an office space. This would require the ability to sit at a desk, frequent walking, bend or stand as necessary.
