About the Role & Team
IDC is seeking a seasoned contract analyst with at least 10 years of hands-on, U.S.-based cellular wireless industry experience to deliver evidence-based research, market intelligence, and strategic guidance to global technology suppliers and buyers.
The ideal candidate has held practitioner roles within the wireless ecosystem, spanning carriers, OEMs, or technology vendors and brings expertise demonstrated across the following core disciplines:
- Broad wireless industry knowledge covering the U.S. carrier and MVNO landscape, OEM ecosystem, network technology trends, and regulatory environment.
- Financial, operational, and data analytics, including market sizing, revenue modeling, and investment analysis specific to wireless products and services.
- Product strategy, encompassing competitive positioning and portfolio prioritization.
- Product pricing strategy, competitive pricing analysis, and margin optimization, with a particular emphasis on business wireless (e.g. corporate liable) market dynamics.
- Wireless industry product management, with a track record of driving product lifecycle decisions in a carrier or vendor environment.
- Product marketing strategy, with experience translating product capabilities into compelling value propositions for wireless audiences.
This depth of real-world experience enables the analyst to move beyond surface-level commentary and deliver the decision-making evidence IDC clients rely on to navigate their next move with confidence.
What You’ll Do
- Produce primary and secondary research covering U.S. wireless market trends, competitive dynamics, and technology adoption.
- Develop market share and forecasting models, market sizing analyses, and forecast frameworks to support client decision-making.
- Assess product strategies, pricing architectures, and go-to-market approaches for wireless products and services.
- Author IDC research notes, Market Perspectives, and custom deliverables aligned to client research agendas.
- Support client engagements, including advisory calls, inquiry sessions, and speaking opportunities.
- Develop detailed analysis for market share and market forecast projects related to the U.S. wireless industry, synthesizing primary data, vendor inputs, and macroeconomic indicators into rigorous, publish-ready models.
What You Bring
- Minimum 10 years U.S.-based wireless industry experience
- Proven expertise in wireless product management
- Financial analytics and market modeling
- Product strategy development
- Product marketing strategy
- Product pricing strategy and competitive pricing analysis
- Broad wireless industry knowledge across carriers, OEMs, and ecosystem players
- Bachelor's degree (Business, Economics, Engineering, or related field)
- Wireless technology knowledge (5G, LTE, RAN, spectrum, IoT, private networks)
- Experience with U.S. carrier ecosystem
- Prior analyst or advisory firm experience
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Proficiency with data visualization tools

At IDC, we are committed to fair and equitable pay practices. Employees are compensated equitably for their work, aligned with their skills and experience. Salary and incentive structures are determined through a rigorous process that considers experience, education, certifications, role-specific requirements, internal equity, and verified U.S. market data from an independent third-party partner.
The expected total annual compensation, depending on location and experience, is $72.00 per hour
