Summary of position:
The Baker Center for Children and Families (also known as Judge Baker Children's Center), promotes the best possible mental health of children and families through the integration of research, intervention, training, and policy.
The Head of School works as part of an interdisciplinary school leadership team with primary responsibility for the Elementary School (Pre-K-6) program at Manville School. Under the supervision of the Associate Director, this role provides important oversight, coordination, and implementation of the Manville School's goals through effective supervision, team facilitation, recruitment, professional development, data collection, and continuity across grade levels.

Essential duties:
- Leads managerial team for Elementary School program, including coaching and shared supervision of managers with their assigned department head.
- Develops effective team dynamics, internal processes, protocols and practices to grow and maintain a high-functioning team that can deliver exceptional outcomes for students and families.
- Partners with Admissions Coordinator to evaluate referrals, oversee processes for extended evaluations, promote the program, and meet annual census targets.
- In collaboration with department heads, ensures appropriate professional development opportunities for Elementary School program managers and staff.
- In partnership with Associate Director of the Manville School and the Director of Special Education, ensures compliance with all DESE regulations.
- Oversees consistent use of universal screening, progress monitoring, and data-based decision making.
- In collaboration with Elementary School managers, determines classroom cohorts and other student groups.
- Develops and maintains an effective Elementary School schedule that is responsive to the needs of students, available staff resources, and current best practices in elementary special education and behavioral health treatment.
- Ensures the full implementation of an interdisciplinary Multi-tiered System of Support framework.
- In collaboration with Associate Director of Manville School, develops and implements an annual Elementary School action plan.
Qualifications
Education:
- Master's degree in special education or related field.
Experience:
- Minimum of 5 years experience in a school setting with a similar student population.
- Minimum of 3 years experience in a managerial or leadership role.
Training:
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office.
- Fluency with evidence-based practices in educational, clinical, behavioral domains.
- Fluency with data-based decision-making processes.

Salary: $115,000 - $135,000
