Position Description

We are looking for a physician to diagnose and treat a wide range of internal medicine conditions with the potential to specialize in a subspecialty area such as cardiology, critical care, endocrinology; gastroenterology, infectious disease, oncology or nephrology.

Rank of Assistant Professor/Associate Professor/Professor and applicable salary are dependent upon candidate's qualifications and experience.

Major/Essential Functions

  • Provides medical care by interviewing, examining, and treating patients;
  • Educates patients on wellness, prevention and early detection by providing materials and resources to the patients and families;
  • Determines level of urgency of follow-up, referral/consultation appointments;
  • Prescribes medical treatment and clinical drugs to patients;
  • Orders studies, test and ancillary services;
  • Documents all services in patient medical record;
  • Consults with other departments and medical staff professionals as needed regarding patient care, assessment, and education issues;
  • Participates in quality improvement, management, continuing education, and other patient care programs established by the hospital or clinic requirements;
  • Contributes to the university's mission through teaching, patient care, research and service;
  • Adheres to institutional and departmental policies and procedures;
  • Teaches internal medicine residents, outside rotators, NP's, PA's and medical students through lectures and in clinics/hospitals.
  • Giving lectures and teaching sessions to fellows, residents and medical students.


Occasional Duties

  • Providing coverage for faculty within the department as requested or needed.


Required Qualifications

  • Completion of, or in the process of completing an ACGME Internal Medicine Residency Program;
  • Must hold or be eligible for ABIM board certification (or in training to become board eligible).
  • Completion of the United States Medical Licensing Examination (USMLE) Step 3
