Sr. Accountant
We are looking for a Senior Accountant to join an organization in Homewood, Alabama. This position will partner closely with leadership on core accounting operations, with significant visibility across the business and a clear path for future advancement. The role is best suited for someone who enjoys being hands-on, thrives in an office-based environment, and can bring structure, accuracy, and follow-through to a busy accounting team.
Responsibilities:
• Partner with the Controller to oversee day-to-day accounting activities and help maintain an accurate and timely financial close process.
• Prepare and post journal entries, reconcile general ledger accounts, and investigate variances to support reliable financial reporting.
• Monitor cash activity and assist with cash flow management to ensure funds are tracked and allocated effectively.
• Perform bank reconciliations and account analyses, resolving discrepancies and following up on outstanding items as needed.
• Contribute to month-end close by organizing supporting schedules, reviewing balances, and ensuring deadlines are met.
• Provide hands-on accounting support across multiple business entities as needed, adapting to changing priorities within the finance function.
• Assist with process improvements and support accounting operations during the transition to Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central from Sage 100.
• Work collaboratively with long-tenured team members and developing staff to help maintain continuity and strengthen the department.
• Support leadership with special projects, reporting needs, and other ad hoc financial tasks that arise in a growing organization.
Qualifications:
• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance.• Progressive accounting experience in a senior-level role with strong ownership of daily and monthly accounting processes.
• Solid knowledge of month-end close, general ledger activity, journal entries, and account reconciliation.
• Experience completing bank reconciliations and working with cash-related accounting responsibilities.
• Proficiency with Sage 100; exposure to Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central is a plus.
• Willingness to work on-site in Homewood, Alabama, Monday through Friday.
• Practical, hands-on approach with the ability to manage details, meet deadlines, and step in wherever needed.
Compensation
