Staff AWS Engineer

We are looking for an experienced Staff AWS Engineer to support and enhance a large-scale cloud environment. This contract-to-hire position is suited for a senior, detail-oriented individual who can strengthen platform reliability, security, and performance while driving infrastructure automation across AWS services. The role will play a key part in designing resilient cloud solutions, improving operational efficiency, and supporting disaster recovery readiness across multiple availability zones.

Responsibilities:

• Oversee and improve AWS infrastructure to maintain strong system availability, security controls, and overall platform performance.

• Design, manage, and optimize core network and edge components, including VPCs, DNS services, firewalls, load balancers, and content delivery capabilities.

• Build, enhance, and maintain infrastructure as code solutions using Terraform to standardize cloud provisioning and operational workflows.

• Develop automation that simplifies cloud administration, reduces manual effort, and supports consistent deployments across environments.

• Create and implement disaster recovery and resiliency strategies

• Partner with technical teams to evaluate cloud architecture, identify improvement opportunities, and support scalable engineering practices.

• Manage key AWS services such as EC2, DynamoDB, and CloudFront to align infrastructure capabilities with business and application needs.

• Use GitHub-based workflows to support version control, collaboration, and ongoing improvements to infrastructure code and automation assets.

Qualifications:

• 7+ years of cloud engineering experience, including significant hands-on work with AWS environments.

• 10+ years of overall infrastructure or platform engineering experience in enterprise-scale settings.

• Required AWS certification demonstrating validated expertise with Amazon Web Services.

• Strong hands-on experience with Terraform for infrastructure as code and cloud automation.

• Practical experience with GitHub for source control and collaborative development workflows.

• Solid knowledge of AWS services such as EC2, DynamoDB, CloudFront, networking, and load balancing.

• Proven ability to design secure, highly available, and resilient cloud solutions.

• Strong understanding of disaster recovery planning, multi-AZ architecture, and operational best practices in AWS.
