Tax Preparer

We are seeking a detail-oriented Tax Preparer to support a variety of tax engagements in a public accounting environment. This role is responsible for preparing tax returns, conducting tax research, supporting tax planning initiatives, and assisting with tax compliance matters. The ideal candidate can work independently, manage multiple priorities, and maintain a high level of accuracy.

Responsibilities:

• Prepare and file individual, corporate, partnership, trust, and other tax returns.
• Conduct federal and state tax research and document findings.
• Prepare, reconcile, and review tax workpapers for accuracy and completeness.
• Assist with tax planning projects and client engagements.
• Monitor tax law changes and evaluate their impact on tax filings and compliance.
• Support responses to tax notices, audits, and examinations.
• Collaborate with team members on special projects and provide technical support as needed.
• Participate in business development and professional networking activities.
• Maintain firm standards and meet annual billable hour expectations.

Qualifications:

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting required.
• CPA designation or active pursuit of CPA certification preferred.
• Experience preparing business and individual tax returns in a public accounting environment.
• Strong knowledge of tax compliance, tax research, and accounting principles.
• Advanced Microsoft Excel skills and experience working with QuickBooks.
• Excellent analytical, organizational, and communication skills.
• Ability to work independently, manage multiple priorities, and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
• Demonstrated job stability and a track record of long-term employment preferred.

Additional Information

• Fully onsite position.
• Candidates should be comfortable completing an accounting skills assessment as part of the interview process.
