PCI Productions is searching for a Communications Strategist IV to serve the Office of Communication at NASA Headquarters in Washington D.C. The successful candidate will serve as a Communication Integrator for Headquarters special projects and outreach. This position is in-person, five days per week and some travel is required.
The ideal candidate should have experience working independently within a complex organization. A major component of the position is to manage a new twice per month public facing speaker series. The series will be produced and managed, with collaboration from within the agency and also with industry and the local community.
The successful candidate will work communication plans, internal communication and external communication, producing error-free written communication suitable for various platforms with relentless adherence to Agency messaging. The Communication Strategist IV is also responsible for the planning and executing of communications products as needed, as well as briefing C-suite or A-suite stakeholders as required. The speaker series appearances will need calendar management, subject matter expert management and careful screening of communication topics with other orgs and programs for message alignment. Relationships within the agency and with the agency's external partners and the community is also essential.
This position requires executive appearance, extreme responsiveness, methodical attention to detail, creativity, strategic thinking and the ability to work with a variety of personalities.
Responsibilities Include:
- Manage and oversee the development of communications products and efforts for a twice per week public facing speaker series
- Manage multiple and complex projects simultaneously under stringent time frames and changing priorities/conditions.
- Identify and develop strategies, tactics, products, and messaging for small and large activities.
- Work collaboratively across the entire organization, other federal agencies, international partners, and private sector organizations
- Develop news releases, talking points, key messages, social media posts, responses to questions, and communications plans.
- Plan and conduct media and public events.
Educational and Experience Background
- Bachelor's Degree in journalism, writing, English, or related field
- At least 10 years of relevant experience.
- Must be comfortable with tight and dynamic deadlines with changing priorities. Some travel required.
- Experience planning and executing events, generating public interest for a new program, managing social content, multimedia projects, outreach events and following approval protocols in a matrixed organization with various stakeholders
Desired Knowledge and Skills
- Superior project management and writing skills
- Experience with managing a speaker series desired
- Experience working in dynamic environment with quick reprioritization required
- Must work well independently
- NASA experience preferred
- Discretion with sensitive information
- Work with MS Office, Teams, SharePoint
