Epsilon Systems is seeking a full time Customer Property Custodian located in Portsmouth, Va.

Summary: Performs day to day custodial duties of customer property including receipt of property, inspections, storage, cataloguing, inventory control, issuance and shipping of all customer property. Processing, packaging, shipping and physical pick-up and delivery of property as required. Requires organizational planning, independent thinking, time management, inventory control, teamwork, documentation, and data entry. 

Duties and Responsibilities: 

  • Under supervision of the Facilities Manager, prepares DD-1149’s, DD-1348’s and other related documents. 

  • Under supervision of the Facilities Manager, prepares shipping documents for CONUS and OCONUS shipments of customer property. 

  • Ensures all materials are properly packaged and marked for shipment. 

  • Creates shipping manifests for all outgoing shipments and makes required system entries of outgoing shipments into database. 

  • Receives/unpacks customer property and documents and reports damages/discrepancies to Facilities Manager. 

  • Verifies materials received against receiving documents and reports discrepancies and all obvious damages to the Facilities Manager. 

  • Routes all property received to prescribed storage locations and processes receipts into the company database. 

  • Maintains inventory control of customer property. 

  • Operates a hand or power truck in the performance of duties. 

  • Transport property in liquid or packaged form to and from specified destinations, such as plants, residences, offices, military installations or within industrial yards 

  • Utilization of government websites regarding property control. 

  • Communicates with work site management team regarding customer property control, inventory, receipts, issues, storage and disposition. 

  • Communicates with government agencies regarding property control, property audits, property handling and disposition. 

  • May perform other related duties in support of department operations as required. 

  • Other duties as required 

Requirements: 

  • High school diploma, GED. 

  • 2 years’ driving experience. 

  • Valid driver’s license. 

  • Clean driving record and be insurable to operate company vehicles, including vans, pickup trucks and flatbed trucks. 

  • Must be able to speak, write, understand and communicate clearly in the English language. 

  • Must be a self-starter and independent thinker  

  • Must have a good understanding of the metropolitan area and be able to navigate from GPS, map(s) and/or directions. 

  • Must have general knowledge of basic warehousing procedures and proper work safety standards (must comply with Safety, Health, and Environmental policies). 

  • Must be professional in conduct and demeanor. 

  • Must be proficient in Microsoft Office applications (WORD/EXCEL) 

  • Must be able to use and edit documents in ADOBE ACROBAT. 

  • Ability to access military/government installations and private area shipyards. 

Certifications & Licenses: 

  • License to drive a fork lift to operate a fork lift with up to 10,000 lift capacity (Will allow to be obtained with-in a six-month period after hired) 

  • Current and valid state driver’s license 

ADA Notations: Involves heavy lifting, frequent stooping or bending. Work conditions vary from indoors to outdoor, very hot to very cold. 

  • Requires walking, reaching, sitting and concentration the presence of occasional and loud noises. 

  • Able to move in narrow and restricted passageways, up/down steep and narrow ladders or stairways (onboard ships). 

  • Able to lift, carry and move objects up to 50 lbs. in weight. 

  • Must have manual and finger dexterity; able to grasp, manipulate, and assemble small objects. 

  • Able to quickly move your hand, your hand together with your arm, or your two hands to grasp, manipulate, or assemble objects. 

  • Able to perceive and distinguish normal range of colors. 

  • Able to perceive and distinguish proper distances (depth perception) 

  • May be required to wear personal protective equipment (PPE) including but not limited to: hard hat, safety glasses/goggles, ear plugs/muffs, masks/respirators, safety vests, gloves and safety toe/steel-toe boots. 

  • Semi-Industrial environment.
