Sr. Accountant

We are looking for an experienced Sr. Accountant to support key accounting operations for a Contract position based in Lenexa, Kansas. This role will play a central part in maintaining accurate financial records, managing close activities, and ensuring balance sheet integrity. The ideal candidate brings strong attention to detail, sound knowledge of general ledger accounting, and the ability to work effectively in a deadline-driven environment.

Responsibilities:
• Lead monthly close activities by preparing, reviewing, and finalizing accounting records within established timelines.
• Maintain the general ledger by recording financial activity accurately and ensuring supporting documentation is complete.
• Prepare and post journal entries with appropriate analysis, backup, and adherence to accounting standards.
• Perform account reconciliations to identify discrepancies, resolve variances, and support accurate financial reporting.
• Complete bank reconciliations regularly to confirm cash activity and investigate outstanding items.
• Review financial data for accuracy and consistency, escalating issues and recommending corrective actions when needed.
• Partner with internal stakeholders to gather information, clarify transactions, and support day-to-day accounting needs.

Qualifications:

• Proven experience working in a senior-level accounting role with responsibility for core close and reconciliation processes.
• Strong working knowledge of month-end close procedures, general ledger accounting, and journal entry preparation.
• Demonstrated ability to complete account reconciliations and bank reconciliations with a high level of accuracy.
• Solid understanding of accounting principles and financial controls.
• Excellent analytical skills with strong attention to detail and the ability to manage deadlines effectively.
• Effective communication skills and the ability to collaborate across teams in a detail-oriented environment.

Compensation

$28.50-$33.00 Hourly
