Staff Accountant

We are looking for a detail-oriented Staff Accountant to join an organization in Fresno, California on a Contract to permanent basis. This role is well suited for an accounting specialist with at least two years of experience who can manage core financial activities with accuracy and consistency. The position will support daily and monthly accounting operations while helping maintain reliable records, tax compliance, and effective collaboration across the business.

Responsibilities:

• Prepare and record journal entries to support accurate monthly and year-end financial reporting.

• Maintain the general ledger by reviewing account activity, reconciling balances, and resolving discrepancies in a timely manner.

• Manage accounts receivable processes, including invoice review, payment tracking, and follow-up on outstanding balances.

• Support corporate tax activities by organizing financial data and assisting with tax return preparation and related documentation.

• Handle sales tax reporting requirements by compiling transaction details, verifying calculations, and meeting filing deadlines.

• Assist with month-end close tasks and help ensure accounting records are complete, organized, and audit-ready.

• Partner with internal teams to gather financial information, answer accounting questions, and improve reporting accuracy.

Qualifications:

• At least 2 years of accounting experience in a staff accountant or similar role.
• Working knowledge of general ledger accounting and journal entry preparation.
• Experience supporting accounts receivable functions and monitoring customer payments.
• Familiarity with corporate tax processes, including corporate tax return support.
• Understanding of sales tax reporting and compliance requirements.
• Strong attention to detail with the ability to manage multiple deadlines effectively.
• Proficiency with accounting systems and spreadsheet tools used for financial analysis and reporting.

Compensation

$22.16-$25.66 Hourly
