Accounting Manager/Supervisor

Springfield, MA 01103, US Full Time
Compensation: $80 to $100 Yearly

Looking for an accomplished accounting leader to guide daily financial operations and support informed business decisions in Springfield, Massachusetts. This position combines hands-on accounting ownership with team leadership, overseeing portfolio and entity reporting while partnering closely with senior stakeholders. The ideal candidate brings strong technical accounting knowledge, sound judgment, and a proactive approach to maintaining accuracy, consistency, and operational discipline.


Responsibilities:

• Lead the month-end close process, ensuring deadlines are met and financial results are complete, accurate, and well documented.

• Supervise and develop a small accounting team, providing direction, reviewing work, and promoting high performance across daily operations.

• Manage general ledger activity for multiple portfolios and entities, maintaining reliable records and resolving discrepancies in a timely manner.

• Prepare and review journal entries, account reconciliations, and supporting schedules to strengthen reporting accuracy and control.

• Oversee the production of internal and external financial reports, delivering clear insights for leadership and other key stakeholders.

• Coordinate audit support activities by organizing documentation, responding to requests, and helping facilitate efficient financial statement audits.

• Partner with senior leadership on accounting matters, offering analysis and recommendations that support planning and business performance.

• Support property accounting activities, including portfolio-level financial oversight and issue resolution across assigned accounts.


Qualifications:

• Proven experience in an accounting leadership role with responsibility for supervising staff and reviewing accounting output.

• Strong command of month-end close procedures, general ledger management, and preparation of journal entries.

• Demonstrated ability to perform detailed account reconciliations and maintain accurate financial records across multiple entities.

• Experience supporting or leading financial statement audit processes and preparing related documentation.

• Working knowledge of property accounting principles and reporting practices.

• Excellent organizational skills with the ability to manage competing priorities and meet recurring deadlines.

• Strong analytical, communication, and problem-solving skills with a high level of attention to detail.
