Job Summary

Hiring Range: $41,683.20 - $52,918.32/Year. It is anticipated that the hiring rate offered will be +/- the midpoint range depending on qualifications.

Port Corpus Christi Authority (PCCA) is currently seeking a dynamic professional to join our team! This position is under the direct supervision of the HVAC Technician, Maintenance Group Supervisors, Assistant Maintenance Manager, and Sr Logistics Manager to operate, maintain, repair and install heating, ventilation, air-conditioning equipment and all related equipment and services.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTION:

  • Assists with preventative maintenance procedures for all HVAC equipment including system operational checks, cleaning of all coils and replacement of capacitors.
  • Diagnoses and repairs malfunctions on all heating and air conditioning systems. Repairs or replaces heating and air conditioning systems and components; to include replacement of filters, compressors, reversing valves, fan motors, electrical components
  • Procures parts, materials and equipment necessary to complete jobs
  • Assists with basic plumbing, electrical, carpentry, painting or mechanical work to achieve maximum departmental efficiency
  • Assures work area, tools and equipment are cleaned upon completion of assignments
  • Interprets company policies to crew and ensures adherence to company policies and procedures
  • Promotes safety awareness and environmental consciousness and complies with all procedures and regulations
  • Drives vehicles as necessary to complete assigned duties
  • Performs other duties as assigned
  • CPR certified or ability to become CPR certified within the first year of employment
  • Tier 1 status designation
CANDIDATE PROFILE
The preferred candidate for this position should be an organized, thorough, and disciplined individual with a focus on maintaining optimal integrity in support of the PCCA. They must possess the following:

EDUCATION & CREDENTIALS
  • High school diploma or equivalent; minimum two years formal education from an accredited college, university or trade school preferred
  • Minimum 5 years’ experience in commercial HVAC
  • Valid driver’s license
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a Transportation Worker Identification Credential (TWIC) during course of employment
  • EPA Freon certification
TECHNICAL SKILLS
  • Ability to speak, read and write English
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions and procedural manuals
  • Must have good communication skills, both verbal and written, to communicate in a clear and concise manner with other electricians, technicians, engineers, supervisors and management team
  • Ability to write routine reports and correspondence, and speak effectively before employees
  • Ability to perform mathematical computations (i. e. rate, ratio and percent) in all units of measure using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals
  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral or diagram form and to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations
  • Proficiency in MS Office, including Word and Excel, Outlook and other related applications
  • Ability to understand, interpret, and apply all PCCA policies, promotes and adheres to the SEAPORT values, state/federal laws
  • Maintain good employee relations and encourages and fosters a helpful environment where teamwork prevails. Assists senior management and office staff where appropriate
ESSENTIAL PHYSICAL JOB FUNCTIONS
  • Ability to perform essential job functions, including but not limited to frequent standing, walking, sitting, speaking or hearing, typing and occasional reaching, stooping, kneeling, lifting and/or moving up to 50 pounds with or without reasonable accommodation
  • Must be able to walk and stand on level and/or inclined, climb stairs, ramps, ladders and work stands. Must be able to crouch, crawl, grasp/handle objects, use finger dexterity, bend elbow/knee and reach above/below shoulders
  • Ability to work in a general office environment, and on a work site with exposure to adverse weather conditions, fumes and /or air particulates, working in high precarious places, risk of electrical shock and moving mechanical parts, moderate noise levels and working at heights, ability to wear personnel protective equipment, including hard hat, steel toed footwear, eye and hearing protection when performing work functions
  • Ability to stand adverse weather conditions, occasional fumes or airborne particles and risk of electrical shock
  • Ability to operate mechanical and electrical equipment and light-weight highway vehicles and standard office equipment and to work the requisite hours to fulfill position objectives, including evenings and/or weekends, as needed
