Referral Specialists play a vital role in helping patients access the specialty and followup services they need. This role supports continuity of care by ensuring referrals are processed accurately and in a timely manner while serving as a key communication link between patients, providers, and internal and external healthcare partners. This role helps reduce barriers to care and supports smooth clinic operations.

Position Highlights:

  • 1.0 FTE (40 hours per week)

  • $19.39-$23.76/hour DOE with the ability to go higher for highly experienced candidates

  • Additional pay for your bilingual skills, paid on hours worked

What You’ll Do:

  • Manage referral work queues to ensure timely processing and completion

  • Coordinate internal and external patient referrals and schedule followup appointments as needed

  • Assist with insurance authorizations and ensure required documentation is complete and accurate

  • Maintain referral tracking by linking chart notes, correspondence, and followup documentation

  • Communicate with patients, providers, and referral facilities via phone, email, and fax

  • Provide patients with instructions, educational materials, and translated resources as appropriate

  • Perform other duties as assigned

Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma or GED

  • One year of experience working in an office setting, preferably in a medical or dental environment

  • Bilingual (English/Spanish) speaking skills required at a level 9

  • Experience using Epic or other electronic health record systems preferred

  • Ability to prioritize tasks and work efficiently in a fastpaced setting

  • Strong communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills

  • Ability to learn and use medical terminology
