About this role:

Wells Fargo is seeking a dynamic and pragmatic risk manager to join the International Business Aligned Compliance and Operational Risk team based in Singapore providing regulatory compliance and operational risk oversight and support to the Global Markets Sales and Trading lines of business operating across the international platform, with a primary focus on the Markets lines of business operating in Singapore, Japan and Hong Kong.

Based in Singapore, providing independent oversight, challenge and advisory support to CIB Markets business lines within your coverage and partner functions in relation to regulatory compliance and operational risk matters.

As a part of Wells Fargo’s second line of defense and Independent Risk Management team, covers jobs responsible for establishing, implementing, and maintaining risk standards and programs to ensure compliance with federal, state, agency, legal, regulatory, and Corporate Policy requirements, while also providing governance, oversight, and credible challenge of operational risk exposures and risk management practices arising from inadequate or failed internal processes, people, systems, or external events.


In this role, you will:

  • Be the senior APAC CIB Business Aligned Compliance and Operational Risk SME based in Singapore with primary coverage of the international Global Markets Sales and Trading FICC lines of business operating in Singapore, Hong Kong and Japan.
  • Provide technical regulatory compliance and operational risk advice and challenge to the FICC Sales and Trading desks operating across the international platform, with primary coverage of the Markets lines of business operating in Singapore, Hong Kong and Japan.
  • Apply technical knowledge of Fixed Income (FX, Rates, Credit and Commodities) products, providing value add risk management oversight and partnership to the business.
  • Operate with autonomy and be the most senior CIB Compliance and Operational Risk point of contact in the region with accountability for your areas of coverage.
  • Reporting directly into the International Head of Business Aligned Compliance, Operational Risk and Conduct Risk and be part of their international management team.
  • Support business growth and strategy, including new business initiatives as the Global Markets lines of business continue to evolve in the region and globally.
  • Be a trusted advisor to business partners ensuring reliable and sound advice and challenge.
  • Proactively identify emerging Compliance and Operational Risks and support in the management and mitigation.
  • Establish, implement and maintain Compliance & Operational Risk standards and programs to drive compliance with federal, state, agency, legal and regulatory and Corporate Policy requirements.
  • Oversee the Front Line's execution and challenge appropriately on Compliance & Operational Risk related decisions.
  • Develop, oversee, and provide independent credible challenge to standards with subject matter expertise.
  • Provide direction to the business on developing corrective action plans and effectively managing regulatory change.
  • Report findings and make recommendations to management and appropriate committees.
  • Identify and recommend opportunities for process improvement and Compliance & Operational Risk control development.
  • Exercise independent judgment and make decisions to resolve issues to meet business objectives in a timely and considered manner.
  • Monitor the reporting, escalation, and timely remediation of issues, deficiencies or regulatory matters regarding Compliance & Operational Risk management.
  • Collaborate and consult with peers, colleagues and managers to resolve issues and achieve goals.
  • Work with complex business units, rules and regulations on moderate to high Compliance & Operational Risk compliance matters.
  • Interface with Audit, Legal, external agencies, and regulatory bodies on risk related topics


Required Qualifications:

  • 10+ years of Compliance, Operational Risk, or equivalent demonstrated through one or a combination of the following: work experience, training, military experience, education.

Desired Qualifications:

  • Extensive experience in Compliance and/or Operational Risk at leading international financial services firm(s).
  • Proven technical and in-depth knowledge of Global Markets FICC products and associated regulatory and operational risks.
  • Proven experience covering FICC Sales and Trading Products at other global financial services organisations in a Compliance and/or Operational Risk role.
  • Clear understanding of the market and regulatory environment in which Wells Fargo International operates, including relevant sectors, countries, products, and clients.
  • Deep understanding of the ever-evolving governance and regulatory environments as well as industry and operational risk and compliance risk-related best practices.
