The Director, Supply Network Planning Jabil is responsible for leading the operational and strategic integration of DePuy Synthes' external manufacturing supply network, with a primary strategic partnership focus on Jabil. This role leads a glob al, multi ‑ level organization that serves as virtual plant management for complex external manufacturing operations, ensuring reliable supply, strong quality performance, effective risk management, and cost competitiveness.

Th is leader will represent DPS interests to strategic EM partners and is accountable for developing, deploying, and orchestrating solutions which maximize value for both internal and external stakeholders. They will foster and advance relationships within the DPS franchise to ensure that each EM's operational capabilities, including risk profile, meets the objectives and priorities of the different value streams. In addition to providing leadership to the EMSI organization, the Director is expected to work tactically, as needed, to ensure each EM achieves targeted service and performance metrics in the areas of continuous improvement, capacity planning, and NPI launch readiness. This person must have demonstrated agility to think long-term, focus on the big picture, while also solving for day-to-day supply integration challenges.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and develop a multi‑level organization of approximately 15 -20 associates across multiple locations, including direct and indirect reports, with accountability for performance management, coaching, and succession planning.


  • Oversee a global footprint of external manufacturers, with primary focus on Jabil, to deliver service, quality, cost, analytics, risk management, supplier development, PO ‑ to ‑ goods ‑ receipt execution, and NPI launch readiness.


  • Represent DePuy Synthes and EMSI interests with Jabil and other strategic external manufacturing partners, informing supply agreements and contractual terms that promote reliability, business continuity, and win ‑ win outcomes.


  • Align with External Operations Planning to translate short ‑ , mid ‑ , and long ‑ term demand and capacity requirements into executable external supply plans that support global demand, inventory, and service targets.


  • Lead the External Manufacturer Supplier S&OP process and ensure outputs are integrated into the global supply plan and the end ‑ to ‑ end supply chain strategy for worldwide instrumentation.


  • Proactively identify supplier constraints and extended supply chain risks that may result in service disruption and lead cross ‑ functional mitigation strategies to protect continuity of supply.


  • Drive supplier development and Operational Excellence initiatives to improve right ‑ first ‑ time performance, lead time, machine uptime, capacity readiness, on ‑ time delivery, and backorder reduction.


  • Lead short ‑ term event management (STEM) and long ‑ term structural recovery efforts to address supply disruptions and systemic performance issues.


  • Define and evolve EMSI integration within NPI, M&A, and technology transfer processes to ensure launch readiness, seamless transitions, and continuity of supply.


  • Partner cross ‑ functionally with Source Category Management, External Engineering, Quality, Product Management, and Planning to clarify roles, prioritize resources, close change controls, and deliver the external supply network strategy.


  • Oversee adherence to project, operating , and resource budgets; ensure compliance with Quality and EHS&S requirements; and benchmark internal and external best ‑ in ‑ class practices to continuously improve external manufacturing capabilities.


Qualifications

Education

  • Required: Bachelor's degree (BA/BS).


  • Preferred: Degree in Supply Chain, Engineering, Operations, Business, or a related field.


Experience and Skills

Required:

  • Minimum of 10 -12 years of experience in supply network planning, external manufacturing, supplier management, manufacturing operations, or a related discipline.


  • Proven experience leading global, matrixed, and virtual teams with direct accountability for results.


  • Direct oversight of strategic external manufacturing partners and complex supplier networks.


  • Experience operating in a highly regulated industry (e.g., medical devices, aerospace, automotive).


  • Demonstrated strength in cross‑functional collaboration, risk management, and long‑range planning.


  • Strong communication , influencing, and negotiation skills.


  • Solid understanding of end‑to‑end supply chain planning, constraints, and analytics‑driven decision making.


Preferred:

  • Medical device industry experience.


  • Direct experience partnering with Jabil or other large global contract manufacturers.


  • Background in Operational Excellence methodologies (Lean, Six Sigma).


  • Demonstrated success leading supplier capability development and continuous improvement initiatives at scale.


Other:

  • Language: English required ; additional languages preferred.


  • Travel: Approximately 10%, domestic and international, based on business needs.

Additional Description for Pay Transparency:
Subject to the terms of their respective plans, employees are eligible to participate in the Company's consolidated retirement plan (pension) and savings plan (401(k)).
