Purchasing Agent

We are looking for a detail-oriented Purchasing Agent to support engineering-related procurement activities in Goleta, California. This is a Contract position focused on managing purchase requests, monitoring spending, and helping teams maintain accurate financial and vendor records. The ideal candidate brings strong organizational skills, sound judgment, and the ability to work across purchasing, finance, and accounting functions in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities:
• Manage purchasing requests for engineering teams and related business groups, ensuring timely order placement for ongoing initiatives and new project needs.
• Maintain accurate spending records by cost center and keep budget tracking tools current to support real-time visibility into hardware lab and exploratory expenses.
• Coordinate vendor onboarding activities, including documentation collection, approval routing, and support for commercial terms and pricing discussions.
• Review invoices for accuracy and partner with accounts payable to help ensure prompt and correct payment processing.
• Oversee software license distribution and maintain renewal schedules to prevent lapses in access or compliance issues.
• Support accounting close activities by assisting with monthly accrual tracking and related financial documentation.
• Reconcile and submit monthly purchasing card expenses with complete and accurate supporting records.
• Contribute to periodic budget planning and forecasting efforts in collaboration with finance stakeholders.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in business, finance, accounting, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
• At least 1 year of experience in purchasing, accounting, operations, or a similar support function.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Excel and other spreadsheet tools used for tracking budgets, expenses, and purchasing activity.
• Experience working with procurement platforms or purchasing management systems.
• Strong analytical and organizational skills with close attention to detail.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities, follow through on deadlines, and adapt in a fast-moving environment.
• Effective written and verbal communication skills for cross-functional coordination and timely follow-up.

Compensation

$29.45-$34.10 Hourly
