VDC Project Manager

Job Description:

This position manages the overall VDC delivery from start to end of a project. They define the scope needed based on the project needs/requirements. They develop and manage the budget, schedule and quality for the VDC delivery. They identify the major necessary tasks and align to available resources in the different groups to meet the project needs. They engage necessary teams around Harris including the Design Studio, Operations, Fab Shops to understand needs and have the work completed. They are the point of contact for internal and external parties for VDC. They work to ensure VDC deliverables are delivered on-time, on budget and with the required quality and detail.

VDC Total Project Delivery

  • Develops, owns and delivers BIM Execution Plan (Scope and execution plan)
  • Drives the understanding and adoption of BIM Execution Plan for the project team
  • Define VDC scope and align with ops team what deliverables the VDC teams will complete
  • Develop a project's VDC budget and resource plan, including estimating at the beginning of a project and weekly/monthly forecasting throughout the project lifecycle
  • Recommends and directs the use of appropriate platforms to manage and collate the correct project information. Ensures use and latest information is readily available.
  • Drives and manages overall delivery of VDC deliverables and is the VDC point of contact for ops teams
  • Drives and owns quality of deliverables
  • Drive and coordinate VDC workflow through all phases (design, construction, fabrication, and install).
  • Directs VDC team members through assigning necessary priorities of deliverables.
  • Liaise resources as needed to ensure sufficient team size to complete high-quality deliverables on time and on budget.
  • Leverages expertise as needed for the project such as engineering, VDC Constructability, etc..

VDC Project Planning and Construction

  • Ensure software/tools are available to team by coordinating with the HDS Technology team
  • Notify and coordinate with HDS Operations and VC Leadership to identify and select resources that have the right skills and availability for the project
  • Drive and ensure understanding of accountability of VDC Constructability Manager early in the process to ensure the correct trade and technical requirements are adopted and rolled out throughout the project templates through the necessary detailed reviews.
  • Drive and ensure understanding of accountability of HDS VD & Model Management team to ensure models are set up, databases are created, and set up ACC hub per the project's requirements
  • Drive and ensure understanding of accountability of HDS Preconstruction Engineer Leads, HDS Virtual Fabrication Leads, and ops teams to drive, prepare, and coordinate prefabrication
  • Gather Harris construction schedules (and design schedules for Design-Build projects) and Key Plan/Work Package groupings from ops team and develop a VDC milestone schedule to meet these needs.
  • Negotiate and communicate changes to external schedules as needed to align on deliverable deadline expectations
  • Frequently communicate any constraints or issues from the VDC team to the ops team. Be a leader in resolving, documenting, and communicating issues/solutions to all stakeholders.
  • Prepare and document potential change orders (PCOs), change orders (COs), and requests for information (RFIs) to manage the VDC budget and in the best interest of the projects.

Status and Progress Reporting

  • Develop and share weekly status reports to Harris ops teams to provide frequent updates on work completed, resourcing, and VDC issue tracking. This supplements minimum weekly meetings with ops team to ensure alignment on project delivery.
  • Develop and issue monthly project statements for visibility to ops teams of financial status/forecasts and summary of issue resolution
  • Respond to KPIs to improve processes and workflow outputs

Standards and Procedures

  • Contribute to creating frameworks to successfully evolve BIM/VDC processes.
  • Support estimating + forecasting labor tools and best practices for resource needs and tracking
  • Support implementation of new software and tools for PM, VDC and BIM, etc.

Other Duties + Miscellaneous

  • Self check all work.
  • Contributes to the desired safety and work culture of the organization.
  • Supervise less experience team members
  • Other tasks and duties as assigned

Pay Range:

$88,848.52 - $133,272.77

The actual salary offer will vary by candidate based on a wide range of factors such as specific skills, qualifications, experience, and location.
