Job Summary:

The Compliance Officer supports Bankers Trust's business units by implementing and overseeing a regulatory Compliance Management System (CMS) designed to achieve proactive compliance with applicable statutes, regulations, and guidance while promoting the Bank's goals of performance and growth. They will maintain extensive knowledge of law and regulations applicable to the bank and will serve as a subject matter expert on projects and other bank working groups and committees. They will collaborate with business leaders to provide subject matter expertise in the creation of policies and procedures necessary to maintain compliance with consumer protection statutes, and will assist in researching, analyzing, interpreting, and implementing new and pending rules and regulations. Applicable statutes, regulations, and guidance are primarily those included in federal consumer compliance examinations but will also include others, as assigned.


This position will be hired at a Compliance Officer I or II level depending on experience.

 

Primary Functions and/or Responsibilities:

  • Assists with the implementation of a CMS designed to mitigate compliance risk associated with regulatory compliance and leads one or more designated Components of the CMS Program such as:Compliance Change Management
  • Compliance Issue ManagementComplaint reporting and responsesCompliance TrainingMarketing and Advertising Review ProgramCompliance oversight for key banking regulations
  • Assists with monitoring, assessing and documenting the compliance risk facing the Bank, and controls in place to mitigate risk
  • Conducts compliance monitoring to analyze and test bank products and services for regulatory compliance, collaborates with bank staff to remedy weaknesses identified in monitoring, and reports on observations/outcomes.
  • Creates, implements and maintains effective Compliance Department procedures
  • Collaborates with business managers in creating, policies and procedures to address technical regulatory requirements and other compliance risks, and to remedy weaknesses
  • Supports business unit managers in the design and implementation of workflows, work papers, tools and training that achieve compliance and mitigate compliance risks
  • Serves as a Compliance subject matter expert on projects, working groups and committees
  • Leads compliance initiatives and projects as assigned
  • Independently researches and responds in a timely manner to compliance-related questions and inquiries from staff
  • Coordinates the gathering of documentation and information requested by auditors and examiners and assists in tracking and responding to audit and examination findings and corrective actions
  • Performs other duties as assigned

    Education and/or Experience:

    Compliance Officer I:

  • A minimum of four years of experience in bank compliance, audit, legal or risk required
  • Consumer Banking, Lending, and/or Operations experience preferred
  • CRCM, CCBCO, JD from an accredited law school, or similar accreditation strongly preferred

  • Compliance Officer II:

  • A minimum of four years of experience in bank compliance, audit, legal or risk required
  • CRCM, CCBCO, JD from an accredited law school, or similar accreditation required, or obtained within 12 months of assuming position
  • Managerial experience and/or leadership training preferred
  •  

    Specific Skills, Knowledge & Abilities:

  • Service-minded approach to assisting business units
  • Ability to learn through independent research and study
  • Ability to read, comprehend, and summarize complex legal and regulatory writings
  • Knowledge of bank software systems/operations
  • Skilled researcher
  • Willingness to pursue ongoing training and learning opportunities

    Hiring Salary Range

    The hiring range below reflects targeted base salary. Actual compensation will be determined based on the candidate’s prior related experience & education and will be finalized at the time of offer. In addition to base salary, most positions are also eligible to participate in our annual bonus program. Select positions may also be eligible to earn incentives and/or commissions.

    Compliance Officer II Hiring Base Salary Range: $88,000 - $104,500 plus annual bonus.

    Compliance Officer I Hiring Base Salary Range: $66,000 - $78,000 plus annual bonus.
