Sr. Accountant

We are looking for an experienced Sr. Accountant to support the financial operations of a real estate property and facilities management organization in Charleston, South Carolina. This role is responsible for maintaining accurate records, overseeing key close activities, and ensuring balance sheet and cash accounts are properly reconciled. The ideal candidate brings strong technical accounting knowledge, attention to detail, and the ability to manage recurring deadlines in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities:
• Lead monthly close activities by preparing schedules, reviewing financial data, and helping ensure timely and accurate reporting.
• Maintain the general ledger by recording and reviewing financial transactions across assigned accounts and entities.
• Prepare and post journal entries with appropriate support, accuracy, and alignment to accounting standards.
• Perform account reconciliations on a regular basis and investigate discrepancies to resolution.
• Complete bank reconciliations by comparing cash activity to internal records and resolving unmatched items.
• Analyze financial information to identify variances, unusual balances, and opportunities to improve accuracy in reporting.
• Support internal accounting processes by organizing documentation and assisting with audit-ready records as needed.

Qualifications:

• Proven experience working in a senior-level accounting role.

• Strong background in month-end close processes and general ledger management.

• Demonstrated ability to prepare journal entries and reconcile balance sheet accounts accurately.

• Hands-on experience completing bank reconciliations and resolving variances efficiently.

• Solid understanding of accounting principles and financial reporting practices.

• High level of accuracy, organization, and attention to detail.

• Ability to manage deadlines and prioritize responsibilities in a dynamic business environment.
