Property Accountant
We are looking for a Property Accountant to support financial operations for a property portfolio in Kansas City, Missouri. This role is ideal for an accounting specialist who combines solid technical knowledge with a service-minded approach when working with internal and external stakeholders. The successful candidate will help maintain accurate records, support compliance with accounting standards, and contribute to timely financial reporting in a deadline-driven environment.
Responsibilities:
• Manage day-to-day accounting activities for assigned properties, including journal entries, account reconciliations, and general ledger maintenance.
• Prepare accurate monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports while ensuring records reflect property-level performance.
• Review transactions for completeness and compliance with accounting policies, lease terms, and property management requirements.
• Partner with property management and operational teams to resolve discrepancies, answer financial questions, and improve reporting accuracy.
• Support accounts payable, receivable, and cash management processes related to property operations.
• Maintain organized financial documentation and assist with audit requests, reporting schedules, and other compliance-related activities.
• Use QuickBooks and related accounting tools to process financial data, monitor balances, and produce dependable reporting.
• Help train and guide colleagues or stakeholders on accounting procedures, reporting expectations, and best practices as needed.
Qualifications:
• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field is strongly preferred.• At least 3 years of accounting experience is preferred; candidates with relevant transferable experience will also be considered.
• Working knowledge of property accounting and broader accounting principles, with a strong foundation in core accounting practices.
• Experience using QuickBooks in an accounting environment that requires strong attention to detail.
• Strong attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple priorities while meeting established deadlines.
• Effective customer service, communication, and collaboration skills for working across teams.
• Familiarity with compliance standards and accurate financial recordkeeping in a property management or asset management setting.
Compensation
