Loan Servicing Specialist I

We are looking for a detail-oriented Loan Servicing Specialist I to support a Financial Services organization in San Antonio, Texas. This Long-term Contract opportunity focuses on managing consumer and commercial loan servicing activities, maintaining accurate records, and helping ensure compliance across the full life of each loan. The role offers the chance to work closely with internal partners, external service providers, and borrowers to resolve complex servicing matters and deliver dependable operational support.

Responsibilities:
• Handle a range of loan servicing transactions, including complex payment applications, payoff activity, principal reductions, advances, adjustments, and participation-related entries with a high degree of accuracy.
• Oversee insurance servicing by monitoring coverage, updating policy information, coordinating renewals, and addressing lender-placed insurance needs when required.
• Perform detailed escrow administration tasks such as account analysis, tax and insurance disbursement processing, and ongoing balance reviews to maintain account accuracy.
• Maintain and update loan and borrower information within servicing systems, complete reviews for newly booked and renewed loans, and help preserve strong data integrity.
• Process specialized account changes such as modifications, extensions, deferments, and re-amortizations while ensuring documentation and system records remain current.
• Review loan files and servicing data to identify discrepancies, support internal control standards, and help ensure adherence to regulatory and investor requirements.
• Prepare scheduled and on-demand servicing reports for leadership, audit requests, and compliance-related needs.
• Address escalated borrower questions involving payment research, account status, escrow concerns, and payoff calculations through clear and timely follow-up.
• Partner with teams across lending, credit, compliance, and operations, as well as third-party vendors, to investigate issues, support audits, and improve servicing workflows.
• Provide day-to-day guidance and quality support to less experienced team members while contributing to process improvement efforts and other assigned duties.

Qualifications:

• High school diploma or equivalent required; additional college coursework or an associate degree is preferred.
• At least 5 years of experience in loan servicing, including exposure to payment processing, escrow administration, insurance tracking, or related loan operations.
• Strong understanding of consumer and commercial loan servicing practices, banking regulations, and internal compliance expectations.
• Experience working with loan servicing platforms and banking software, with solid Microsoft Excel skills for tracking, review, and reporting tasks.
• Demonstrated ability to manage complex servicing situations such as payoff calculations, account adjustments, loan changes, and escalated customer inquiries.
• High attention to detail with strong analytical, recordkeeping, and problem-solving abilities.
• Effective written and verbal communication skills with the ability to collaborate across departments and work with external partners.
• Familiarity with a variety of loan products, which may include conventional, consumer, home equity, government-backed, or investor-supported loans, is a plus.

Compensation

$22.80-$25.00 Hourly
