Patient Service Representative
We are looking for an experienced Patient Service Representative to support a busy health clinic. This long-term contract position is ideal for someone who is confident in a fast-paced front office setting and can provide organized, patient-focused service with minimal onboarding. The role centers on registration, referral coordination, payment collection, and accurate administrative support while maintaining a welcoming experience for patients and visitors.
Responsibilities:
• Welcome patients at the front desk, complete check-in procedures, and ensure registration details and required forms are current and accurate.
• Coordinate referral-related tasks, including processing documentation and supporting insurance verification activities as needed.
• Collect applicable copays at the time of service and apply sliding fee information correctly based on established patient eligibility guidelines.
• Place appointment reminder calls and help patients navigate scheduling or follow-up needs in a thorough and courteous manner.
• Scan, fax, and organize clinic documents to maintain complete and accessible patient records.
• Balance multiple administrative duties throughout the day, including patient flow support, front office coverage, and end-of-day reconciliation tasks.
• Communicate clearly with patients regarding front desk payment expectations while directing billing-specific balance questions to the appropriate department.
• Use electronic health record and office systems to document information accurately and support efficient daily clinic operations
Qualifications:
• Prior experience in a healthcare front office, medical reception, or patient services role is required.• Working knowledge of medical terminology and standard clinic registration processes.
• Demonstrated ability to multitask effectively while remaining calm, organized, and service-oriented in a busy environment.
• Experience with patient scheduling, registration, check-in workflows, and referral or insurance-related processes.
• Familiarity with electronic medical record systems; experience with NextGen or similar platforms is preferred.
• Basic computer proficiency, including comfort with office software and routine administrative systems.
• Understanding of HIPAA requirements and commitment to protecting patient privacy and confidential information.
• Spanish language skills are a plus, but not required.
Compensation
