Bookkeeper

A travel agency in Waterbury, CT is seeking a detail-oriented Bookkeeper on a contract basis. This role is ideal for an accounting professional who enjoys managing day-to-day financial transactions, maintaining accurate records, and supporting business operations in a fast-paced environment.

Key Responsibilities:

• Maintain accurate financial records and update bookkeeping systems regularly
• Process accounts payable and accounts receivable transactions
• Reconcile bank accounts, credit card statements, and general ledger accounts
• Prepare journal entries and assist with month-end close activities
• Generate invoices, track payments, and follow up on outstanding balances
• Assist with payroll processing and expense tracking as needed
• Prepare financial reports and support management with account analysis
• Ensure records are organized and maintained in compliance with company procedures

Qualifications:

• Previous experience in bookkeeping, accounting support, or a related role preferred
• Proficiency with Microsoft Excel and accounting software such as QuickBooks or similar systems
• Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
• Ability to handle multiple priorities and meet deadlines
• Good communication skills and a professional demeanor
• High school diploma or equivalent required; associate degree in accounting or related field preferred
