Collections Specialist

Robert Half is seeking a skilled Accounts Receivable Collections Specialist for a contract-to-hire opportunity. This role is ideal for a detail-oriented professional with strong communication skills and a proven background in B2B collections, accounts receivable, and customer account resolution..

Key Responsibilities

• Manage a portfolio of customer accounts and perform business-to-business collections activities
• Contact customers regarding past-due balances via phone, email, and written communication
• Research and resolve billing discrepancies, payment issues, and account disputes in a timely manner
• Monitor aging reports and prioritize collection efforts to reduce outstanding receivables
• Maintain accurate account records, including collection notes and follow-up activity
• Partner with internal teams (customer service, billing, accounting) to resolve account issues
• Perform account reconciliations and assist with cash application as needed
• Support month-end close activities related to accounts receivable
• Recommend accounts for escalation and contribute to collection strategy efforts
• Ensure compliance with company policies and collection procedures

Qualifications:

Qualifications

• 2+ years of accounts receivable and/or commercial collections experience
• Experience within the service industry preferred
• Strong knowledge of AR aging, cash application, and account reconciliation
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
• Ability to negotiate professionally while maintaining positive client relationships
• High attention to detail with strong organizational skills
• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and accounting/ERP systems
• Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment

Preferred Skills

• Experience with high-volume collections environments
• Familiarity with customer portals and dispute resolution processes
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
• Team-oriented mindset with a customer service focus
