Contract Attorney

An established litigation law firm in Palo Alto, CA is seeking a Contract Attorney to support its Insurance Defense practice. This firm has multiple practice groups and offers the opportunity to work in a collaborative, fast-paced environment handling sophisticated litigation matters. The ideal candidate will have 5-10+ years of California-based civil litigation experience and a background in or exposure to insurance defense matters. This is an excellent opportunity for a licensed California attorney seeking a flexible contract role with either part-time or full-time hours.

Responsibilities:

• Participate in phases of insurance defense litigation matters
• Draft pleadings, motions, discovery, and other legal documents
• Conduct legal research and assist with case strategy
• Manage discovery, including drafting and responding to written discovery
• Assist with depositions, hearings, mediations, and trial preparation
• Communicate with clients, opposing counsel, carriers, and internal teams
• Collaborate with attorneys across multiple practice groups as needed

Qualifications:

Qualifications:

• J.D. from an accredited law school
• Active California bar license required
• 5+ years of California civil litigation experience required
• Insurance defense experience preferred
• Strong legal research, writing, and analytical skills
• Ability to manage multiple assignments in a fast-paced environment
• Excellent communication and organizational skills
• Ability to work on-site in Palo Alto, CA as needed
• Availability for either part-time or full-time hours
