Employee and Labor Relations Manager
Responsibilities:
• Direct daily employee and labor relations activities for a workforce of up to 3,000 employees represented by multiple unions, ensuring consistent application of labor agreements and HR policies.
• Advise leaders and managers on contract interpretation, workplace practices, and risk-aware decision-making related to union and employee matters.
• Lead investigations into grievances and workplace concerns, recommend appropriate resolutions, and provide guidance on corrective action, documentation, and communication planning.
• Supervise and develop HR team members by setting priorities, distributing workload, coaching performance, and addressing personnel issues when necessary.
• Maintain compliance with applicable labor regulations, internal policies, and contractual obligations by supporting audits, reporting processes, and responses to regulatory inquiries.
• Contribute to collective bargaining preparation and negotiation efforts through research, issue analysis, and coordination with internal stakeholders.
• Use workforce data and trend analysis to identify risks, inform labor strategies, and support operational and budget planning.
• Deliver training and change support to leaders and staff on employee relations practices, policy expectations, and labor-related processes.
• Support HR systems usage and related process improvements, including work in Workday when needed to strengthen reporting and case management.
Qualifications:
• Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business, or a related field is required.• 10+ years of experience in employee relations, labor relations, or human resources leadership roles.
• Demonstrated success working in unionized environments with responsibility for grievances, investigations, and collective bargaining agreement interpretation.
• Strong knowledge of labor law, HR policy administration, and compliance practices within complex organizations.
• Experience leading, coaching, and managing HR staff in a fast-paced setting.
• Ability to influence leaders, resolve sensitive workplace issues, and communicate effectively across all levels of the organization.
• Proficiency with HRIS platforms; Workday experience is strongly preferred.
• Master’s degree in Human Resources, Business Management, or a related discipline is highly desirable.
