Position Description
This position assists in the overall operation of the Unit Medication Room and distributes clients medications from filled prescriptions.
THIS POSITION REQUIRES A CURRENT MEDICATION AIDE CERTIFICATION.

Required Qualifications
Graduation from an accredited high school or GED equivalent and Emergency Medical Technician-Paramedic (EMT-P) with current credential from the Texas Department of State Health Services, OR Successful completion of a certified medication aide training course and passage of State exam.

Major/Essential Functions
- Distributes and documents Texas Department of Criminal Justice (TDCJ) inmates' medications.
- Ensures drug room security, replaces unit working drug stock and maintains the upkeep of drug room and pharmaceutical equipment.
- Enters medication compliance in the TDCJ pharmacy computer system and performs all duties within the limits of the Medication Aide Permit and according to the National Commission on Correctional Health Care (NCCHC) standards, Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center (TTUHSC) and TDCJ policy and procedures.

- Other duties as assigned by supervisor
Required Qualifications

- Experience working with electronic medical records (EMR)
