Our client, a well-respected healthcare organization, is seeking an experienced and hands-on Controller to lead the accounting and financial operations of the hospital. This is a highly visible leadership role responsible for overseeing all aspects of accounting, financial reporting, budgeting, revenue cycle oversight, internal controls, and regulatory compliance.


The ideal candidate will be a strong accounting professional with a proven background in hospital or healthcare finance, exceptional leadership skills, and the ability to partner with executive leadership to drive financial performance and operational excellence.


Key Responsibilities

  • Direct and oversee all accounting functions, including general ledger, accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, fixed assets, and month-end/year-end close processes.
  • Prepare timely and accurate monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements in accordance with GAAP and healthcare industry standards.
  • Lead the organization's annual budgeting process, including full-cycle budget development, forecasting, variance analysis, and financial planning.
  • Partner with department leaders and executive management to monitor financial performance and identify opportunities for improvement.
  • Provide oversight of revenue cycle operations, including billing, collections, reimbursement, cash management, and revenue integrity initiatives.
  • Ensure compliance with all federal, state, and healthcare regulatory requirements.
  • Coordinate and manage annual audits, cost reports, tax filings, and other external reporting requirements.
  • Develop, maintain, and strengthen internal controls, accounting policies, and financial procedures.
  • Analyze financial results and present actionable recommendations to senior leadership.
  • Mentor, develop, and lead the accounting and finance team while fostering a culture of accountability and continuous improvement.



Qualifications:

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field required.
  • CPA strongly preferred.
  • 10+ years of progressive accounting and finance leadership experience within a hospital, health system, or healthcare organization.
  • Strong knowledge of healthcare accounting, reimbursement methodologies, revenue cycle management, and regulatory reporting.
  • Demonstrated experience managing full-cycle budgeting, forecasting, and financial planning processes.
  • Expertise in GAAP, financial statement preparation, and internal controls.
  • Experience leading audits and working with external auditors and regulatory agencies.
  • Proven ability to lead teams and collaborate effectively across multiple departments.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, communication, and presentation skills.
  • Proficiency with healthcare financial systems, ERP platforms, and Microsoft Excel.

Preferred Qualifications

  • CPA designation.
  • Experience with acute care hospitals, community hospitals, or multi-site healthcare organizations.
  • Knowledge of Medicare, Medicaid, and third-party reimbursement methodologies.
  • Experience supporting strategic financial initiatives and operational improvement projects.

Compensation

$140,000.00-$210,000.00 Yearly
