Senior Safety Specialist
Responsibilities:
• Partner with site leaders and employees to promote an open, accountable approach to workplace safety and continuous improvement.
• Design, implement, and manage safety programs, procedures, and reporting practices, including meeting facilitation, incident response, investigations, and emergency preparedness.
• Inspect the work environment to identify potential hazards, document findings, and coordinate corrective actions that protect employees, contractors, and visitors.
• Maintain program records, policies, and operational documentation required to support Process Safety Management compliance for the bakery division.
• Oversee critical safety activities such as hazard reviews, change control, incident analysis, safety observations, workplace assessments, and follow-up on audit action items.
• Assist leadership with the administration of regulatory compliance programs to meet applicable federal, state, and local health, safety, and environmental standards.
• Lead safety engagement efforts for hourly staff, encouraging participation in safe work practices and behavior-based safety initiatives.
• Review contractor activity on site to confirm work is performed in accordance with company expectations, established procedures, and safety requirements.
• Coordinate and deliver training for programs such as confined space, lockout/tagout, and first aid, working with outside vendors when specialized instruction is needed.
• Analyze incident history and safety performance trends, conduct facility safety and environmental audits, and present recommendations and results to the management team and safety committee.
Qualifications:
• 5+ years of experience in environmental health and safety, occupational safety, or a related safety leadership role.• Demonstrated knowledge of OSHA regulations, occupational safety practices, and workplace compliance standards.
• Experience conducting safety audits, incident investigations, risk assessments, and corrective action tracking.
• Ability to develop and maintain safety policies, procedures, logs, and compliance documentation.
• Background leading safety training sessions and communicating expectations effectively with both hourly employees and management.
• Familiarity with behavior-based safety programs, emergency response planning, and contractor safety oversight.
• Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret safety trends and recommend practical improvements.
• Excellent collaboration and coaching skills for working across operations, leadership, and cross-functional teams.
Compensation
