IT Engineer

San Francisco, CA 94108, US Temporary
Compensation: $50 to $55 Hourly

We are looking for an IT Engineer to support and strengthen a fast-paced internal technology environment. This contract position is ideal for someone who enjoys combining hands-on user support with operational improvement across endpoint management, access administration, and workplace technology. The role will focus on maintaining a predominantly Mac-based device fleet, streamlining employee lifecycle processes, and partnering with cross-functional teams to deliver reliable, scalable IT services.

This is a hybrid contract located in San Francisco.

Responsibilities:

• Oversee the health and ongoing development of a largely Mac-based corporate environment while also supporting Windows systems used by select business teams.

• Manage the full device lifecycle, including procurement coordination, deployment preparation, shipping, returns, replacements, repair tracking, and inventory accuracy.

• Provide day-to-day employee technical support by assessing incoming issues, resolving common problems efficiently, and escalating complex cases when needed.

• Coordinate onboarding and offboarding activities with the People team to ensure timely equipment setup, account readiness, and secure access changes.

• Support high-volume onboarding periods such as intern start dates by preparing hardware, accounts, and related provisioning tasks in advance.

• Administer and improve identity and access processes using tools such as Okta, including account configuration, permission reviews, and access governance activities.

• Partner with DevOps, Security, Engineering, Quality, and People stakeholders to introduce new tools, support evaluations, and close technical gaps tied to adoption.

• Automate repeatable work across provisioning, asset management, and reporting to improve consistency and reduce manual effort.

• Maintain clear internal documentation, operational runbooks, and standard procedures while also supporting office technology such as conferencing systems, A/V equipment, and basic networking needs.

• Deliver onsite assistance in the San Francisco, California office as needed, including support for local technology issues and process improvements across ticketing and tooling workflows.

Qualifications:

• Proven experience supporting Apple devices and macOS in a business environment with familiarity managing mixed-platform fleets.
• Hands-on knowledge of desktop and workstation hardware, including troubleshooting, replacement coordination, and general endpoint support.
• Experience with identity and access management platforms such as Okta, including user setup, deprovisioning, and permission administration.
• Familiarity with MDM technologies and endpoint management practices for provisioning, policy enforcement, and device maintenance.
• Ability to manage multiple support requests while maintaining strong service quality, clear prioritization, and effective follow-through.
• Experience creating or improving technical documentation, standard operating procedures, and support runbooks.
• Comfortable working cross-functionally with technical and non-technical teams to improve workflows and deliver dependable IT operations.
