Accounts Payable Specialist

We are looking for an Accounts Payable Specialist to support a busy finance team. This Contract position is well suited for someone who brings strong attention to detail, solid accounting system knowledge, and a proactive approach to managing payment activity. The person in this role will help keep vendor transactions accurate, organized, and on schedule while partnering with internal teams to maintain efficient accounts payable operations.

Responsibilities:
• Review incoming invoices, confirm accuracy, assign proper general ledger coding, and verify approvals before processing.
• Manage payment timelines by tracking due dates and preparing ACH transactions and check runs in accordance with established schedules.
• Reconcile accounts payable records, investigate inconsistencies, and take prompt action to correct outstanding issues.
• Maintain complete and up-to-date vendor information while responding to payment questions in a thorough and timely manner.
• Contribute to month-end and year-end accounting close by preparing accounts payable support and ensuring related records are current.
• Work closely with cross-functional teams to reinforce policy adherence and identify opportunities to strengthen payment processes.
• Enter and update invoice and payment details within accounting systems and spreadsheets to preserve accurate financial data.

Qualifications:

• Previous experience in accounts payable or a closely related accounting role.
• Practical knowledge of invoice coding, account coding, and full-cycle payment processing.
• Experience handling ACH payments and coordinating routine check runs.
• Comfort using accounting software and spreadsheet tools to manage financial information.
• Strong attention to detail with a consistent focus on accuracy.
• Effective problem-solving skills with the ability to resolve discrepancies efficiently.
• Ability to manage multiple deadlines and work collaboratively within a team setting.

Compensation

$22.00-$25.00 Hourly
