Accounts Payable Clerk

Our client, in the non-profit industry, is in need for an Accounts Payable Clerk to join their team on a contract basis! This role focuses on high-volume invoice handling, accurate expense coding, and timely payment processing across multiple agency and program sub-accounts. The ideal candidate brings strong attention to detail, solid accounts payable experience, and the ability to help maintain smooth month-end financial operations.

Responsibilities:

• Process a high volume of invoices each week, about 100 - 200 per week, while ensuring accuracy, completeness, and timely entry into the accounting workflow.

• Review and assign proper coding to invoices across numerous agency and program-related sub-accounts.

• Perform three-way matching by comparing invoices, purchase documentation, and receiving details before approving payment.

• Prepare and support check runs to help ensure vendors and assistance-related obligations are paid on schedule.

• Handle accounts payable transactions connected to utility and rent assistance programs with careful attention to documentation requirements.

• Coordinate with internal teams and program contacts to resolve invoice discrepancies, missing details, and approval delays.

• Contribute to month-end close activities by organizing payable records and assisting with reconciliations and reporting support.

Qualifications:

• At least 2 years of experience in accounts payable or a closely related accounting support role.

• Hands-on experience with invoice coding, invoice processing, and payment preparation.

• Familiarity with three-way matching and standard accounts payable controls.

• Experience supporting check runs and tracking payment documentation effectively.

• Strong organizational and communication skills for working with multiple agencies, programs, and internal stakeholders.

• Proficiency with basic accounting systems and standard office software used in finance operations.
