Accounts Payable Specialist (Contract)

A growing professional services company is seeking an experienced Accounts Payable Specialist to assist with a backlog of invoices and support month-end accounting activities. This role will join a collaborative accounting team and play a key role in ensuring timely vendor payments and accurate financial records.

The ideal candidate enjoys working in a high-volume environment and can quickly learn new systems and processes.

What You'll Be Doing

Accounts Payable Processing

• Review, code, and process vendor invoices
• Match invoices to purchase orders and supporting documentation
• Prepare ACH, wire, and check payments
• Reconcile vendor statements and investigate discrepancies
• Maintain vendor files and payment records
• Assist with month-end AP accruals and reporting

Vendor & Accounting Support

• Respond to vendor inquiries regarding payment status
• Work closely with department managers on invoice approvals
• Assist with audit requests and supporting documentation
• Support accounting projects and process improvement initiatives

Qualifications:

• 2+ years of accounts payable experience required
• Experience processing high-volume invoices preferred
• Knowledge of ERP systems such as NetSuite, Sage, or Microsoft Dynamics
• Strong Excel skills and attention to detail
• Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
