OUPEA is seeking to recruit a high caliber, results oriented, experienced, and highly skilled Marketing Specialist fora period of 5 months
About the role
The Marketing Specialist will be responsible for executing targeted marketing campaigns, strengthening product messaging, and accelerating customer engagement across key segments, particularly schools, teachers, learners, and channel partners.
The role will focus on driving visibility, adoption, and usage of core products, while supporting data-driven decision-making and amplifying OUPEA’s brand presence in the education ecosystem.
The appointed individual will be reporting to the Head of Marketing.
Key Accountabilities:
Campaign Execution & Market Activation
- Plan and execute integrated marketing campaigns for priority products (including dictionaries and reference materials).
- Support back-to-school and transition campaigns targeting learners moving to secondary school.
- Drive on-the-ground activations in schools and key education forums.
Product Positioning & Messaging
- Refine and articulate clear, compelling product messaging aligned to curriculum needs and customer insights.
- Develop marketing collaterals (presentations, brochures, digital content) that demonstrate use cases, relevance, and learning impact.
- Ensure consistency of messaging across all customer touchpoints.
Customer Engagement & Content Development
- Create engaging content that showcases product usage beyond the classroom (e.g., in media, everyday communication, and literacy development).
- Support thought leadership and storytelling that builds brand affinity and drives conversation across digital platforms.
- Work closely with teachers and schools to generate authentic advocacy and testimonials.
Sales Enablement
- Collaborate with the Sales team to develop tools and materials that strengthen product pitches and customer conversations.
- Support key account initiatives with tailored marketing interventions.
- Contribute to proposal development and customer presentations where required.
Special Projects & Capability Building
- Support the execution of strategic initiatives such as Oxford Quality programmes to reinforce brand positioning and product credibility.
- Contribute to the development of structured learning content and curriculum-aligned training materials for internal and external stakeholders.
- Design and deliver training programmes for distributors and sales teams, strengthening product knowledge, positioning, and effective sell-through.
- Work cross-functionally to ensure successful rollout of special projects within defined timelines and objectives.
Insights & Performance Tracking
- Track campaign performance metrics (reach, engagement, conversion, adoption).
- Generate actionable insights to inform ongoing marketing strategies.
- Support customer surveys and feedback loops to continuously refine positioning.
Minimum requirements
- Bachelor’s degree/ higher Diploma in Marketing, Business, Communications, or a related field.
- 3–5 years’ experience in marketing, preferably within education, publishing, or FMCG.
- Demonstrated experience in campaign execution, content development, and digital marketing.
- Strong understanding of customer segmentation and go-to-market strategies.
- Proficiency in written and spoken English and Kiswahili.
- Strong ethical standards and ability to represent OUPEA professionally.
- High proficiency in written and spoken English; Kiswahili.
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple stakeholders/projects simultaneously.
