Job Description:

We are looking to appoint a new Product Director, Spanish Product, reporting to the Divisional Product Strategy Director, with a dotted line to the Managing Director of OUP Spain.

This role is responsible for making a significant contribution to business growth by developing, adapting, and delivering a portfolio of product and services that address the needs of existing and potential customer segments in the Spanish market. The role must devise and deliver winning product strategies and effectively manage the lifecycles of the products and services in the portfolio. This includes, but is not restricted to local content, imported content, assessment and consultancy services. This role will also be responsible for researching and anticipating market trends, creating an intimacy with the key customer segments that will enable us to develop appropriate solutions to unmet needs and provide us with a competitive advantage.

This role will be a member of the OUP España Senior Management Team as well as the Divisional Product Team Senior Management Team and will be responsible for adopting global approaches and processes to maximise efficiencies and economies of scale as well as supporting the team in creating divisional solutions for different customer segments

The main responsibilities will be:

  • Lead a diverse team of content developers and product managers in the definition, development and implementation of annual and longer-range product strategies, plans and objectives.
  • Identify opportunities for all OUP España content areas via new business models, new ways to reach existing markets, or via innovative new product or service ideas.
  • Direct the creation of front list publishing for local curriculum to ensure it is commercial, market focused and competitively positioned.
  • Collaborate with UK ELT product team to help shape and develop a pipeline of successful products.
  • Collaborate with Marketing and Sales to develop the product promotion strategy and sales training plan.
  • Input into the market research strategy and teacher training plan.
  • Ensure operational effectiveness and successful implementation of change.
  • Seek out business development synergies with other OUP divisions.
  • Provide strong leadership to attract, develop and retain staff, and to create a healthy business culture consistent with OUP’s code of conduct and ethical standards.

Requirements:

  • Highly experienced, commercially astute, decisive and action-oriented senior manager.
  • Experience in leading large teams and major programmes to incorporate effective methodological and pedagogical approaches in educational content.
  • Strong knowledge of the Spanish educational market.
  • Experience working with key technologies and learning initiatives affecting education and publishing today including Learning Management Systems.
  • Highly developed team-building skills and people management skills, with experience managing motivating and empowering large teams.
  • Fluent Spanish and English speaker, with excellent communication and collaboration skills.

This is an office-based role in San Fernando de Henares (Madrid)
