The Specialty Equipment segment includes Anderson Dahlen, located in Ramsey, MN, and Waconia, MN. Anderson Dahlen delivers end-to-end equipment design-build and contract manufacturing, with precision fabrication – cutting, forming, machining, welding, finishing, and complex assemblies – backed by engineering, integration, and complete process solutions including skids and sanitary platforms tailored to customer applications. Anderson Dahlen is ISO 9001:2015 certified, as well as ASME, AWS, and PED compliant. 


The wage range for this role takes into account a wide range of factors that are considered in making compensation decisions, including but not limited to skill sets, experience and training, certifications, as well as other business and organizational needs. The disclosed range estimate has not been adjusted for the applicable geographic differential associated with the location at which the position may be filled. It is not typical for an individual to be hired at or near the top of the range for their role, and compensation decisions are dependent on the facts and circumstances of each case. A reasonable estimate of the current range is $105,000 to $150,000 annually.

POSITION SUMMARY


The primary responsibility of the Food and Beverage Process Engineer will be responsible for leading the design, development, and optimization of Food and Beverage equipment and systems that are critical to our customers’ manufacturing processes. This includes conceptualizing and designing new products and processes, testing product designs, communicating concepts and ideas to the customers, and developing acceptance testing. The successful Food and Beverage Engineer will be innovative, creative, and analytical. 

As part of Engineering Leadership, this individual will play a vital role in setting the Engineering strategy either through direct reports or by influence across the engineering organization. The ideal candidate will have a deep understanding of Food and Beverage technologies, system integration, Selection of Food Process Equipment, Mechanical Transport and Storage Equipment, Mechanical Processing Equipment, Mechanical Separation Equipment, Heat Transfer Equipment, Food Evaporation Equipment, Food Dehydration Equipment, Thermal Processing Equipment, Mass Transfer Equipment, and Food Packaging Equipment, food hygiene, plant safety and cross-functional collaboration in a manufacturing setting.


Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Serves as the subject matter expert (SME) on Food and Beverage-based systems and processes, including ingredient transfer using Pneumatic and mechanical Conveying, Mixing and blending, and skid-based liquid process systems.
  • Lead the design, specification, and development of conveying systems, mixing and blending systems, liquid process skidded systems, and related components.
  • Mentor, coach, and develop engineering talent across the organization.
  • Conceptualizes product ideas directly with customers by using sound design principles with a focus on design for manufacturability.
  • Plays an active role in supporting sales, estimating, and customer discussions to assist in the development of project proposals that capture project timelines, project scope, and customer requirements.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve complex issues related to process control systems, food safety regulations, process flow, and system performance.
  • Delivers product specifications, calculations, recommendations, and procedures to the project team for production purposes.
  • Creates and maintains engineering documentation, process specifications, and validation protocols.
  • Provides technical guidance and mentorship to engineers and project managers.
  • Maintains a positive attitude and promotes a “team” approach throughout the organization.
  • Ensure that a favorable Company image is presented to customers and that all customer relationships are based on honesty and integrity.
  • Up to 20% Travel may be required as needed.
  • Other duties as assigned.


Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in chemical engineering, Food Science, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in food and beverage systems engineering, preferably within a manufacturing or R&D environment.
  • Experience in food and beverage manufacturing or process engineering is required.
  • Strong understanding of food safety regulations, such as FDA, USDA, or HACCP.
  • Familiarity with process control systems and manufacturing equipment.
  • Good working knowledge of manufacturing processes, materials, and quality control protocols.
  • Knowledge of materials compatibility in food and beverage environments.
  • Understanding of food plant design and layout.
  • Proficiency with 3D modeling software and report writing programs.
  • Excellent communication and technical writing abilities.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and project management skills.
